Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, believes that Adoption of the Law on the Opposition is Unreasonable

In the interview to "Pro Holovne" program (the First National Channel), V.Lytvyn stated, "It is as if the opera house set up a choir society."

The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine admitted that no country in the world had the laws to regulate activity of the opposition. "There are the established traditions that nobody violates," he stated, adding that the Constitution of Ukraine does not envisage presence of the coalition and the opposition in the Parliament.

He stressed that the opposition is powerful, provided its members defend the alternative approaches. He criticized the members of the opposition factions who failed to attend the plenary meetings on December 21-24.

The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine reminded that the members of the opposition headed most parliamentary committees, took part in the standing delegations and inter-parliamentary institutions, could form the agenda on Wednesday, and demanded listening to the reports of the Government members on Friday.
